Many runners, or new runners deal with the occasional blister on their foot. Overtime these turn into callouses, I have callouses on the bottom of my feet that are hard, gross and have built up over seasons of running. I have family that is into Zumba and Aerobics and athletic shoes are not always kind. My mom is a nurse and spends 10-12 hours on her feet every day. You can get a pedicure, sure. They will scrape your feet, scrub them with a salt soak and massage them. It’s wonderful. Nevertheless, if you live on a budget like me these moments are few and far between.
When I started creating soaps due to my sensitive dry skin issues, I needed another product to support my feet since I abuse them so much! I bought salt scrubs at the store and some of them are nice products BUT some are over scented, many have many chemicals and you can make your own with the products in your pantry, BONUS!
I started SUPER simple and you can too.
Here is what you need:
1-cup salt (the bigger the salt grain the longer it will last)
1/3 cup honey (optional)
1/2 cup almond oil (I think it smells less like regular oil but you can also use Argon, Coconut or olive oil)
5-6 drops essential oil
I like to make Lavender or Eucalypts Scrubs because those to me are the most calming but you can choose to use whatever scents you like best.
1. Whisk together honey & oil.
2. Slowly mix in salt.
3. Add essential oil and mix well.
4. Spoon mixture into wide mouth Mason jar or container. Add a pretty tag to give as a gift.
